Job description
Paving Screed OperatorOur client is looking for a Paving Screed Operator who will be responsible for operating and controlling the screed on an asphalt paving machine to ensure a smooth, even, and properly compacted surface. This role requires precision, attention to detail, and coordination with the paving crew to meet project specifications and quality standards.Key ResponsibilitiesOperate the screed controls on an asphalt paver to regulate depth, width, and smoothness of the asphalt matAdjust screed settings to maintain proper grade, slope, and crown according to project plansMonitor asphalt material flow and temperature to ensure consistent paving qualityCoordinate with the paver operator, roller operators, and ground crew for efficient workflowPerform routine checks and minor maintenance on screed equipmentIdentify and correct surface irregularities during paving operationsEnsure compliance with safety regulations and company policiesRead and interpret project plans, grade stakes, and specificationsMaintain a safe and clean work environmentQualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent preferred2+ years of experience operating paving equipment, specifically screedsStrong understanding of asphalt paving processes and materialsAbility to read grade stakes, blueprints, and layout drawingsValid driver's license (CDL preferred but not always required)Skills & CompetenciesAttention to detail and precision in equipment operationStrong hand-eye coordinationAbility to work effectively in a team environmentGood communication and problem-solving skillsMechanical aptitude for equipment troubleshootingAbility to work in varying weather conditionsPhysical RequirementsAbility to stand for long periods and work on uneven surfacesFrequently lift up to 50 lbsAbility to work outdoors in hot, cold, and noisy environmentsMust be able to bend, stoop, and climb onto equipmentThis role is based in Bowmansville, PA and is an on-site role.
