Job description

We are seeking a Software Engineer or Senior Software Engineer to join our Commercial Lines IT team. At Sentry, we're more than just insurance-and we can offer you more than just a job. This position can be filled as a Software Engineer or Senior Software Engineer based on the qualifications and experience of the selected candidate. Our ideal candidate will have experience with modern web and enterprise technologies, cloud services, & microservices architectures. This role offers opportunities to work with cutting-edge digital transformation initiatives across our insurance business lines.

For this position, Sentry does not offer employment to holders of F-1, J-1, and H-1 Visas.

Contribute: You'll work in a full-stack, cloud-first, development environment where you'll have the chance to work in many industry-leading technologies, including Guidewire BillingCenter, Java, Hibernate, Apache Camel, CXF and Spring Boot Framework, Vue, Typescript, Javascript, SQL, Elastic, and Snowflake. As a Software Engineer, you will:

Engage in the design, development, and implementation of new and existing programs or solutions.

Demonstrate ownership over the quality of assigned tasks, preparing test scripts and conducting tests on both new and existing solutions.

Engage in team delivery functions such as design reviews, code reviews, and scrum meetings.

What it Takes:

Associate Degree in Computer Science or related discipline; or equivalent related work experience. Bachelor Degree preferred.

Minimum of 2 years related work experience. 5 or more years of related work experience preferred.

Demonstrated aptitude in one or more programming languages and software development concepts.

Ability to critically evaluate multiple options to solve complex problems.

Ability to work well independently and as part of a team.

Experience with Guidewire, Java and Vue preferred.
