The Reliant Group is seeking an experienced CPA who wants a long‑term professional home, meaningful client relationships, and the opportunity to expand our established tax and accounting practice while working alongside Summit Financial Group’s experienced financial planning team.
Based in Loveland, you will oversee the technical quality of tax and accounting work and serve as a trusted advisor to individuals, families, and business owners. This is a hands‑on professional role with no direct reports or staff supervision responsibilities, allowing you to focus on client advice, technical work, and practice development.
The Opportunity

You will work alongside Summit’s experienced, fully staffed team, with a full complement of administrative and operational support, allowing you to focus on tax and accounting work, client relationships, and practice growth. You will collaborate with financial planning professionals to connect tax advice with clients’ broader financial and retirement goals.
You will have direct access to ownership, an established professional environment, and opportunities to build Reliant through existing relationships and new business. We value a CPA who wants to become a lasting part of the team and help shape the practice over time.
What you will do
Prepare and review complex individual and business tax returns, research technical questions, and oversee accuracy and timely completion of tax and accounting engagements.
Provide proactive tax planning for individuals and families with investment income, retirement considerations, multiple income sources, and business interests.
Advise small‑business owners on tax planning, entity‑related tax matters, and accounting issues; review financial information and identify opportunities to improve reporting and decision‑making.
Collaborate with Summit’s financial planning professionals to coordinate client advice and identify appropriate opportunities for Reliant’s services.
Coordinate with our remote CPAs and remote bookkeeper to stay informed about all client work, including engagement status, key issues, and deadlines. Provide technical guidance, review, and assistance as needed to support consistent advice and timely delivery.
Build lasting client relationships and help develop new business. Additional compensation is available for business you originate, under an agreed incentive arrangement.
What you bring
Active CPA license and at least five years of recent public accounting experience focused on tax; seven or more years preferred.
Strong experience preparing and reviewing individual, partnership, S corporation, and small‑business tax returns, with sound tax planning and research skills.
Ability to independently oversee engagements, prioritize deadlines, and exercise good professional judgment.
Clear, practical communication and a relationship‑focused approach to advising clients and collaborating with financial planning professionals.
Experience with QuickBooks, professional tax software, and accounting workflows.
Interest in a long‑term position and in helping build a sustainable practice. Prior staff management experience is not required.
Compensation and benefits
Base salary of $120,000–$145,000, based on experience and technical capabilities.
Annual performance bonus opportunity based on individual contributions and firm results.
Additional compensation for new client business you bring into the firm, with terms established by agreement. Bringing an existing book of business is not required.
SIMPLE IRA retirement plan with employer match.
Health care reimbursement plan and paid time off.
Firm‑paid continuing education to support CPA requirements and professional development.
Work from home on Fridays outside tax season, with Fridays off from June 15 through August 15, coordinated around client needs and engagement deadlines. Additional hours are expected during tax season.
Potential performance‑based profit sharing, with eligibility and terms established by agreement.
Your first priorities
Get to know Reliant’s clients, Summit’s team, our remote CPAs and bookkeeper, and the existing tax and accounting workflows.
