ABOUT TRABUS

Trabus Technologies (TRABUS) is a minority-owned, service-disabled veteran-owned small business (SDVOSB) headquartered in San Diego, providing advanced wireless technology solutions, cybersecurity expertise, and artificial intelligence capabilities to federal and commercial clients since 2010. Our diverse technical strengths span emerging wireless innovations and engineering support to the armed services.

Recognized on the Inc. 5000 list over the years, TRABUS is a dynamic, forward-leaning organization committed to solving real-world challenges and delivering mission-ready solutions that meet and exceed customer expectations.

POSITION SUMMARY

TRABUS has an opportunity for a Senior UX/UI Engineer with Product Owner and project management experience. We are seeking an experienced design and product leader who can drive product strategy end-to-end, from user research and interface design through backlog management and delivery for data-intensive, AI/ML-enabled applications supporting critical Navy programs.

This is a senior-level role for someone who combines strong hands-on UX/UI expertise with the ability to own a product roadmap, manage stakeholders, and lead cross-functional teams.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Own and prioritize the product backlog; write user stories and acceptance criteria in collaboration with engineering leads and government stakeholders.

Lead requirements gathering, roadmap planning, and sprint execution across multiple concurrent efforts, acting as Product Owner/Project Manager for design and frontend initiatives.

Facilitate Agile activities, including sprint planning, backlog grooming, demos, and retrospectives, while managing schedules, risks, and deliverables.

Design, develop, and maintain responsive, accessible frontend interfaces using modern frameworks such as React, Vue, or Angular.

Conduct and synthesize user research, usability testing, and stakeholder feedback sessions to drive iterative UI/UX improvements.

Translate customer feedback, wireframes, and prototypes into production-ready frontend code and clear product requirements.

Serve as the primary liaison between design/engineering teams and government stakeholders, translating mission requirements into product roadmaps.

Mentor and provide technical and design direction to junior UI/UX and frontend engineers.

Develop and maintain component libraries and design systems to ensure UI consistency across products.

Collaborate with backend engineers to integrate APIs and ensure seamless data presentation across complex, data-intensive applications.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

5+ years of experience in frontend development using frameworks such as React, Vue, or Angular.

3+ years of experience in a Product Owner, Project Manager, or similar product/technical leadership role.

Demonstrated experience translating user research, customer interviews, or usability feedback into product strategy, roadmaps, and design/code changes.

Experience managing project schedules, resources, risk, and stakeholder communications, including with government customers.

Experience with Agile/Scrum frameworks and backlog management tools such as Jira or Azure DevOps.

5+ years of experience with HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript/TypeScript.

Experience with UX/UI design tools such as Figma, Sketch, or Adobe XD.

Experience consuming RESTful or GraphQL APIs and integrating backend data into frontend applications.

Experience using CI/CD workflows and version control via GitHub, GitLab, or similar tools.

U.S. citizenship and the ability to maintain a final DoD-adjudicated Secret Clearance.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

PMP, CSPO, or CSM certification.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

Strong written and oral communication skills, including experience presenting design rationale and roadmaps to non-technical and government stakeholders.

Experience leading or mentoring cross-functional design and engineering teams.

Familiarity with data visualization libraries such as D3.js, Chart.js, or similar.

Experience with cloud-deployed web applications on platforms such as AWS or DigitalOcean.
