Job description
Athlete Health Educator
The Athlete Health Per Diem Educator will provide public health-based education to athletes, coaches, parents, teachers and administrators as part of the Athlete Health Program at Hospital for Special Surgery.
Specific job responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
Deliver educational workshops and neuromuscular training sessions for and other partner organizations under the direction of the HSS Athlete Health Program Manager
Conduct movement assessments for youth and adult athletes, analyze data to provide personalized feedback and recommendations to improve health outcomes under the direction of the HSS Athlete Health Program Manager
Contribute to the development, implementation, and improvement of educational materials and program curricula under the direction of the HSS Athlete Health Program Manager
Participate in data collection for clinical research and education outcomes reporting under the direction of the HSS Athlete Health Program Director
Required Qualifications
Minimum of bachelor's degree in: Athletic Training, Physical Therapy, Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology, Public Health or a closely related field
Recommended certifications include: Exercise Physiologist (ACSM), Corrective Exercise Specialist (NASM), Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (NSCA), or similar
Current First Aid-CPR/BLS certification
Outstanding communication and human interaction skills
Preferred Qualifications
3-5 years clinical experience
Knowledge of strength and conditioning principles, clinical movement assessments/performance analysis technology, and injury risk reduction best practices
Strong consideration given to those with a demonstrated history of public speaking, sports injury prevention program development, and/or implementation of public health education programs
Strong consideration given to those with a background in elite-level sports, adult fitness/recreation, or performing arts
