Job description

National Jewish Health is seeking a Student Diagnostic Radiology Intern to join its Imaging Services team. This role provides an exceptional opportunity for students currently enrolled in a radiologic technology program to gain hands-on clinical experience in a collaborative healthcare environment. Working under the supervision of registered technologists and alongside radiologists and multidisciplinary care teams, the Radiologic Technologist Student helps deliver high-quality diagnostic imaging while developing the skills needed for a successful career in medical imaging.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform diagnostic X-ray procedures under supervision, producing high-quality images that support accurate patient diagnosis.

Assist with fluoroscopic procedures while collaborating with radiologists, physician extenders, speech therapists, and other healthcare professionals.

Support mobile imaging services, including mobile X-ray and fluoroscopy procedures.

Maintain radiation safety standards and apply ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) principles during all imaging procedures.

Utilize electronic medical records, scheduling systems, RIS, and PACS applications to support efficient patient care and workflow.

Contribute to a safe, patient-centered environment focused on quality, service, and clinical excellence.

Position Summary

Under direct supervision of an American Registry of Radiological Technology (ARRT) registered technologist, performs quality diagnostic radiology and fluoroscopic procedures in accordance with standards set by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and the American Society for Radiologist Technologists (ASRT). This position works within the interdisciplinary team to provide safe and personalized care for patients.

Essential Duties

Under direct supervision of an American Registry of Radiological Technology (ARRT) registered technologist, conducts diagnostic x-ray procedures providing high quality images to assist the radiologist in accurate diagnosis.

Under direct supervision of an American Registry of Radiological Technology (ARRT) registered technologist , performs all fluoroscopic procedures proficiently while working in coordination with radiologists, Radiologists Practitioner Assistants (RPA's), speech therapists, and other qualified physicians as required.

Under personal supervision of an American Registry of Radiological Technology (ARRT) registered technologist, performs mobile x-ray and mobile fluoroscopy procedures providing high quality images to assist the radiologist in accurate diagnosis.

Maintains safe radiation safety practices during all Imaging procedures using ALARA (As Low as Reasonably Achievable) principles.

Uses hospital information systems proficiently including EMR, scheduling, RIS and PACS software applications.

Other Duties Performs as back-up to staff absences and vacancies, as necessary.

Minimum Qualifications Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Graduation from a JRCERT (Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology) certified Radiologic Technology program or current enrollment required. If currently enrolled, must have obtained a minimum of 32.5 credits.

Work Experience: None required

Special Training, Certification or Licensure: R.T. (R) certification with the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) must be completed within 90 days of graduation from a JRCERT (Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology) certified radiologic technology program. Current CPR/BLS Healthcare Provider certification.

Salary Range: $20.69 - $27.36

Benefits: This position is PRN and not eligible for benefits.
