Substitute CustodianAn ESS substitute custodian plays an essential role in maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and functionality of school facilities, ensuring every school day runs smoothly and students can focus on learning. In addition to regular building maintenance functions, the school custodian provides direct support to classroom teachers in set up and maintenance of furniture and equipment.ResponsibilitiesPerform maintenance duties before, during, and after school hoursClean all areas of school buildings according to district standards, including floors, windows, furniture, and restroomsDeliver supplies and materials to appropriate areas of the buildingComplete grounds keeping dutiesQualificationsMinimum of a high school diploma or GEDValid NJ criminal history letterNegative tuberculosis test required prior to start of employmentAbility to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. and occasionally up to 100 lbs.School janitor/custodian experience preferredAbout ESSAs leaders in the education staffing space since 2000, ESS specializes in placing qualified staff in daily, long-term, and permanent K-12 school district positions including substitute teachers, paraprofessionals, and other school support staff.
