Locums - Syracuse, New York, NP/PA Vascular Surgery Opening
Clinical Role
ASAP start with ongoing need, anticipated approximately 6 months1 NP or PA needed40 hours per week with some call100% inpatient Vascular Surgery; no clinicAdult and geriatric patient populationMix of inpatient rounding, medical management, OR first assisting, and pre/post-operative careCoverage needed while recruiting for a permanent provider Schedule & Coverage
24/7 service coverage shared among approximately 7-8 APPsFlexible 10- and 12-hour shiftsTypical shifts:7:00 am-5:00 pm7:00 am-7:00 pm9:00 am-9:00 pm7:00 pm-7:00 am Nights and weekends required on a rotating basisNight and weekend shifts are scheduled in-house coverage, not callTypically 1-2 call days per weekCall may involve remaining after a scheduled shift for OR coverage or home phone/beeper coverageCall provider may remain approximately 4-5 hours after shift for OR coverageCallback after leaving the hospital is uncommon36-hour weeks with 3 12-hour shifts may occasionally be accommodated based on staffing Practice Setting & Case Mix
High-acuity Vascular Surgery serviceApproximately 15-20 patients on the serviceIndividual provider typically rounds on 3-5 patients per dayApproximately 7-8 OR cases per day across the serviceDirectly supports approximately 5 Vascular SurgeonsVascular Surgery only; no cross-specialty coverage Procedures & Clinical Expectations
Inpatient medical management, including diabetes, hypertension, and acute illnessPre- and post-operative Vascular Surgery careOR first assistingPeripheral bypassCarotid surgeryAV fistula creationOpen abdominal aortic surgerySuturingPermcath removalWound VAC managementDressing changes and wound careNo Interventional Radiology procedures Support & Systems
Established team of experienced NPs and PAsEpic EMR Requirements & Credentialing
NCCPA or ANCC/AANP certification required, as applicableNP candidates must have RNFAActive New York license required at time of submissionBLS and ACLS required2-3 years of Vascular Surgery experience requiredCardiac Surgery experience may be considered if it included Vascular Surgery cross-coverageMust be comfortable first assisting in open Vascular Surgery cases What's great about Syracuse, New York?
