Job description

Hospital Communication System OperatorResponsible for facilitating proficient operation of a hospital communication system.Does this position require patient care? NoEssential functions include:Performing various clerical duties and operating computer equipment including the switchboard console, alphamate pager, voice-paging system, portable radios, and cellular telephone and providing information to callers and visitors.Handling both incoming and outgoing calls with speed and accuracy.Demonstrating familiarity with all code-emergency situations and the appropriate procedure to alert proper personnel and record occurrences as required.Acting as central control for mobile pagers, taking and relaying messages as required.Responding to various alarm systems located at the switchboard.Issuing keys that are kept at the switchboard to authorized personnel. Maintaining an accurate log as to the disposition of these keys.Compiling on-call information for hospital personnel and all meetings scheduled in the building.Resolving basic discrepancies and referring all others to the appropriate department.Qualifications:Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent required.Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree?
