Transfer Advisor
This announcement serves to fill three (3) vacancies. The Title V Cooperative Grant provides support for transfer students through several programs. The goals of the grant are to facilitate increased transfer, support on-time graduation, and develop articulation agreements between PCC and CSU-Pueblo, and between CSU-Pueblo and other community colleges as possible. The Transfer Advisor will be responsible for orienting, advising, and retaining students within their college. The advisor will also engage in outreach to transfer students within the community.
Primary Duties
Case Management - Mentor, advise, register, monitor, and maintain a caseload of continuing, and transfer students. Work with new transfer students to ensure a smooth transition to CSU-Pueblo. Meet individually and in groups with students to develop structured Student Success Plans and DARS reports. Track student academic progress. Utilize Starfish enrollment management system to identify students at-risk and provide academic interventions as well as make referrals when elicited. Conduct individualized follow-up sessions to provide support to students. Create and present workshops on university policies, degree audits and course registration. Help students in one-on-one meetings to select and register for classes. Assist students in connecting with other departments on campus including the academic department of their major.
Liaise - Work closely with the university and college leadership teams, including deans, chairs, and faculty and staff in academic departments in order to ensure that students are taking correct classes for major. Work individually with faculty and staff from appropriate offices to ensure that related academic problems experienced by caseload of students are satisfactorily resolved.
Outreach - Travel to and attend off-campus outreach events and conduct educational presentations in various educational institutions.
Data Collection - Collect both quantitative and qualitative data related to each student, major and caseload. Generate reports based on collected data. Conduct program evaluations. Report results of evaluation. Contribute to end-of-semester and annual reports on student success, persistence and retention.
Other - Other duties as assigned.
Ancillary Duties
Serve on various University committees.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university
Demonstrated ability to work successfully in a team environment
Demonstrated ability to work successfully with a diverse population of students
Strong written and oral communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree from a regionally accredited institution in education, communications, psychology, social work, or similar
Experience advising at an institution of higher education
Experience with academic departments
Experience with advising transfer students
Experience with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act
