Salary Range: $121,680.00 To $138,320.00 Annually

Do Your Best Work. Build What’s Next.

You’ve spent years developing your technical expertise, learning how to deliver complex transportation projects, and becoming someone clients and teammates can rely on.

Your next opportunity should build on that experience.

At C&S Companies, we’re looking for an experienced transportation engineer who wants to take greater ownership of projects, strengthen client relationships, develop other engineers, and help shape the continued growth of our transportation practice in Western New York.

We already have a strong foundation.

C&S is one of the largest transportation consulting firms in Western New York, working with NYSDOT, the New York State Thruway Authority, GTC, counties, municipalities, and communities across the region.

Now we’re looking for people who can help us build on it.

The Opportunity

As a Senior Project Engineer, you’ll have the opportunity to lead meaningful transportation projects while expanding your influence beyond the technical work.

You’ll still solve engineering problems and deliver high-quality designs. But you’ll also work directly with clients, guide project teams, mentor younger engineers, and have a voice in how we approach our work.

For the right person, this role can be more than the next step on an organizational chart.

It can be an opportunity to build your reputation, expand your leadership experience, and help shape a growing transportation practice.

What You’ll Work On

Our transportation work ranges from local roadway improvements to major state and federally funded infrastructure projects.

You’ll help lead projects from early planning through final design and construction support, including:

Highway and roadway design

NYSDOT and Federal Aid projects

Design reports and technical documentation

Construction plans, specifications, estimates, and bid documents

Multidisciplinary project coordination

Technical reviews and quality oversight

Client and agency coordination

The projects will vary.

What won’t change is the expectation that you’ll have meaningful ownership of the work.

Your Impact Won’t Stop at Project Delivery

We’re looking for someone who wants to contribute beyond completing the next set of plans.

Your experience can help us make better technical decisions, strengthen client relationships, develop younger engineers, and improve how we deliver projects.

You’ll have opportunities to:

Lead.

Take ownership of projects and guide teams through complex technical and delivery challenges.

Influence.

Have a voice in project decisions and help improve how our transportation team approaches its work.

Mentor.

Share what you’ve learned and help younger engineers develop the judgment and confidence that only come through experience.

Build relationships.

Work directly with clients and agency partners and become a trusted resource they want to work with again.

Grow.

Take on increasingly complex projects and responsibilities as your interests and career goals evolve.

What We’re Looking For

Qualifications include:

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline

Eight or more years of transportation engineering experience

Experience delivering NYSDOT and Federal Aid transportation projects

Strong roadway and highway design experience

Experience preparing and reviewing design reports, plans, specifications, estimates, and bid documents

Proficiency with MicroStation/OpenRoads and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Ability to lead project teams and develop productive client relationships

New York Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred, or willingness and ability to obtain one shortly after joining C&S

Why C&S?

There are plenty of places where an experienced transportation engineer can work on good projects.

We believe the difference is what you’re able to build around those projects.

At C&S, you’ll find the resources and project opportunities of a national firm while maintaining access to the people making decisions.

Our size creates opportunity without creating unnecessary distance between employees and leadership.

You can know the people leading the business.

You can bring forward an idea and be heard.

You can see how your work contributes to the success of the team.

And as our transportation practice grows, you can help shape where it goes next.

Build Your Career Without Putting the Rest of Your Life on Hold

A strong career should create opportunities—not make everything outside of work harder.

C&S supports a 60/40 hybrid work environment , providing flexibility while preserving the collaboration and connection that help engineering teams perform at their best.

We also invest in your continued development through training, conference attendance, tuition reimbursement, mentoring, and opportunities to expand your responsibilities.

We want you to keep growing here.

Estimated Salary Range: $121,680–$138,320 annually

Actual compensation is based on experience, education, certifications, technical expertise, geographic location, and market conditions.

Medical, dental, and vision insurance

Company-paid life and disability coverage

401(k) with company match

Generous paid time off, including vacation and unrestricted sick and personal time

Flexible and hybrid work options

Paid parental leave

Employee Assistance Program (EAP)

Wellness programs

Employee referral bonus program
