Job description
Travel PTAAmerican Traveler is seeking a Physical Therapist Assistant for a 9-week assignment requiring an active California PTA license and BCLS certification.DetailsMonday through Friday schedule, 8 AM to 5 PM, no weekendsNo on-call requirementsCaseload of 8-9 patients per day with 1-hour evaluations and 45-minute follow-up appointmentsNo double booking of patient appointmentsPatient population includes acute care, skilled nursing, and outpatient physical therapy casesUtilizes various modalities including spinal traction, ultrasound, electrical stimulation, diathermy, and infra-red lightRequirementsActive California PTA license required if applicableCurrent BCLS certification requiredGraduate of an APTA approved Physical Therapist Assistant ProgramExperience in acute care, skilled nursing, or outpatient physical therapy settings desiredProficiency in physical therapy procedures including therapeutic exercise, soft tissue mobilization, gait training, neuromuscular re-education, orthotic/prosthetic training, and tapingStrong interpersonal, problem-solving, and communication skillsAdditional InformationWorks under the direction of the Director of Physical Therapy or a licensed Physical TherapistDocuments and communicates treatment effects verbally and in writing with timed and dated chart entriesMaintains a safe treatment environment and practices proper hand hygiene before and after patient contactCollaborates with physicians, directors, managers, and coworkers within the chain of commandAssists with front office duties including answering phones, registering, and scheduling patients as neededAssists in ordering supplies and maintaining adequate PAR levelsAdheres to dress code and wears identification while on dutyPractices within the guidelines of the California State Practice Act
