Job description
American Traveler is hiring an ICU RN for a night shift position requiring 2+ years of ICU experience, active IL license, and critical care skills including ventilator management and cardiac drip titration.
Requirements
Active IL RN license required in hand at time of consideration
Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required; PALS preferred
AHA and Red Cross certifications accepted; RQI cards not accepted
Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
Cardiac monitoring and emergency response skills required, including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias and obtaining 12-lead EKGs
IV insulin protocol experience required
Chronic/acute renal failure experience required
IV therapy skills required, including arterial line management, blood product administration, central line and PICC line care, and starting IVs
Medication management skills required, including continuous IV sedation and paralytics, emergency medications, and titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips
Respiratory/thoracic skills required, including ventilator management, BiPAP/CPAP, chest tube assistance, HFNC, ABG interpretation, and suctioning
Experience with infection prevention, isolation precautions/PPE, and surgical wound/drain or wound vac care required
Responsibilities
4-bed ICU/CCU unit in a critical access, Magnet-designated hospital
1:2 nurse-to-patient ratio for all shifts
Night shift (3x12),
Required to work every other weekend
No on-call responsibilities
Floating required within the hospital or to nearby affiliate facilities as needed
Cerner charting system used (preferred experience)
Provide critical care nursing support in a Surgical ICU setting managing complex, multi-system patient needs
First-time travelers are welcome to apply
Local candidates accepted with no radius restriction
Previous permanent or PRN employees must be separated from the facility for at least 12 months before returning as a traveler
RTO requests ideally limited to 5 days or fewer
Must work 2 of the 3 major holidays
Scrubs may be any solid color
Parking permit required at no cost, arranged during orientation
Travel pairs are not accepted at this facility
