Job description
Looking for more than just another warehouse job?
At First Fence of Georgia, the people doing the work have a stake in the company's success. We are a 100% employee-owned company, and we believe in working hard, helping each other, taking ownership and being proud of a job done right.
We're looking for an experienced Yard & Warehouse Associate who knows their way around a forklift, can safely handle large and sometimes challenging loads, and wants to be part of a dependable team.
This is not an entry-level forklift position. We can teach you our fence products and processes, but you should come to us comfortable operating a sit-down forklift and working with long, heavy and bulky materials.
What's in It for You?
$18-$20/hour, based on experience and forklift proficiency
Weekly pay
Full-time, primarily day-shift schedule
Excellent health and dental insurance
Paid time off
401(k) retirement plan
Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) - become fully vested after six years
Stable, year-round work with an established local company
A team that values reliability, accountability and hard work
The opportunity to work for a company that is 100% employee owned
What You'll Be Doing
You’ll help keep our crews and customers moving by making sure the right materials are pulled, staged, loaded and ready when they’re needed.
Your day may include:
Pulling, counting, measuring, labeling and staging fence materials
Double-checking orders for accuracy before they leave the yard
Operating sit-down forklifts to move long, wide, heavy and bulky materials
Loading and unloading trucks, trailers, flatbeds and delivery vehicles
Receiving and stocking incoming materials
Keeping the yard, warehouse and loading areas organized and safe
Assisting with inventory counts, returns and material discrepancies
Communicating shortages or problems early so crews and customers aren't delayed
Pitching in wherever needed to help the team get the job done
What We're Looking For
We'd like to talk with you if you have:
2+ years of recent, regular sit-down forklift experience
Experience handling long, wide, heavy, bulky or unstable loads
Experience loading/unloading flatbeds, trailers or commercial vehicles
Previous experience in a yard, warehouse, construction supply, lumber, steel, pipe, fencing, manufacturing or similar environment
Ability to accurately read pick tickets, labels and material lists
Ability to read a tape measure accurately
Basic computer skills and willingness to use scanners, tablets and inventory systems
A valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
A dependable work history and a reputation for showing up ready to work
Forklift certification is preferred, but real hands-on experience matters more than the card. Candidates will complete a practical forklift evaluation before operating equipment independently.
You'll Fit In Here If...
You take pride in doing things correctly. You don't walk past a problem and assume someone else will handle it. If something is short, damaged or wrong, you speak up. If a teammate needs help, you pitch in.
That's what employee ownership looks like at First Fence.
We value people who are dependable, hardworking, safety-minded, accountable and willing to learn. Everyone has a role in making the company successful.
A Few Things to Know
This is an active, hands-on position performed primarily outdoors and in non-climate-controlled yard and warehouse areas. You should be comfortable working in Georgia heat, cold, rain and changing weather conditions.
The position also requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work safely around forklifts, vehicles, trailers and heavy materials.
Candidates must be able to pass a drug screen and criminal background check and meet company driving and safety requirements.
