Job description
FirefighterOpening Date: 9/24/26 Closing Date: 10/22/26 The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.1. Responds to fire emergency alarms, lays and connects hose, holds nozzle, and directs water streams.2. Forces entry of premises for firefighting, rescue, and salvage operations, using chemical fire extinguishers, bars, hooks, lines, and other equipment.3. Removes persons from danger; administers first aid to injured persons.4. Positions and climbs ladders to gain access to upper levels of buildings.5. Carries charged hose line into the structure for fire extinguishment.6. Physically able to wear a complete set of protective clothing and self-contained breathing apparatus.7. Participates in fire drills and attends training classes in firefighting, first-aid, and related subjects.8. Participates in company inspections, public education activities, and emergency response operations.9. Possesses a thorough knowledge of the operations of the apparatus and equipment to which the member is assigned.10. Maintains and cares for all equipment assigned to the member, the station, and the apparatus.11. Will be subject to call back in emergency situations during unscheduled work times.12. Safety-sensitive position subject to pre-employment, post-accident, reasonable suspicion, and random drug screens.13.
